Faith-based’ is a word that has been soiled by t
he politics of our time that seeks to co-opt r
eligion to impose a coercive value system in t
he name of Christianity that may have little c
onnection to an institutional heart transformed b
y the message of the Christ. This soiled sense o
f faith-based institutions leads to control and e
mpire building. It is described in the a
